Installation Guide

Prerequisites

  • Python ≥ 3.10

  • uv (recommended) or pip

    • Option A: Install with uv (recommended)

    uv manages Python versions and virtual environments automatically.

# Clone the project from GitHub
git clone https://github.com/rizkydwicmt/yfinance-mcp-server.git yfinance-mcp-server
cd yfinance-mcp-server

# Create venv with Python 3.12 and install
uv venv .venv --python 3.12
uv pip install -e . --python .venv/bin/python

# Verify
.venv/bin/yfin-mcp --help

    Option B: Install with pip

    bash
    # Ensure Python ≥ 3.10
python3 --version

# Create virtual environment
python3 -m venv .venv
source .venv/bin/activate   # Linux/macOS

# Install in editable mode
